I read the following quote by Salma Hayek a few years ago and it changed everything:
“People often say that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder,'
and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty
is realizing that you are the beholder.”
These words hold so much power, so much potential for change. Beauty is about celebrating what makes you different. Each woman has unique facial features, a unique form, a unique personality, and being able to positively embrace the fact that you are different than every other female in the world is powerful and transformative.
I began to study the female form from the very beginning of my photography career. Through the combination of my eye, my posing directions and my camera, I realized I had something special to offer! I could show women a version of themselves that they may not see when they look in the mirror. I realized that one well-taken photograph has the ability to change a woman’s self-perception, self-confidence and the way she leads her life (read about one such story here).
When I realized that I had the ability to gift women with a fresh perspective on their own beauty, I knew that I wanted to spend every day photographing women and that’s exactly what I am doing!
If you’re interested in creating a beautiful portrait of yourself or a loved one in Toronto, GTA, or beyond, feel free to drop me a line. I'd love to chat about how to celebrate your beauty, poise & femininity in a photograph!
Much love, Alisha
